You do not want to put your RAR files on a web hosting account. There have been many cases where the users upload files for archiving or backup and got their account canceled by the web hosts. Somehow, there are some fine print saying that we cannot use the hosting account for storing files other than for web page displaying purposes. Yes they said "unlimited" diskspace - so they lied.
Why not use something like http://hostingtopic.com/mozy.htm - This is a legit file sharing service and will not get you in trouble for putting and sharing any kind of files.
