How to host an amazing race birthday party?

I am hosting a birthday party for my friend and he wants an amazing race theme. I have no idea how one of these parties would work. If you know please help. Thank you in advanced.

**I'm not sure if this is what you have in mind but you could do it like a 'car rally' where everyone has to pair up and has a list of things that they have to do or collect (and obviously get proof if they have to do it like, go to McDonalds and buy a drink or something) and the first pair back wins.
