How can i host my own site on my own pc?

Hi, i would like to make a website, once ive brought the domain i would like to host the site on my own pc, and i would like some free kit to make the site. I dont want to have to pay anything more than the domain costs me. Plz help me, i would be very gratefull if u could, ty

Ok i am assuming this is your first time hosting.

We should start simple here.

Lets say you don't even want to pay a cent.

Here is how i would do it.

Go to NOIP (source link1) and purchase a FREE domain name.

Download there update client incase you have a dynamic ip.

Ok that takes care of the domain name and redirecting (if needed)

Now you need to get a server going.

Download apache (source lnk2) and install it.

No matter what firewall you have you need to allow it access to the net.

Now get that running correctly. You may need to allow access through your router which i cant really help you with as there are so many. You may even be not allowed port 80 through your isp but thats cool NOIP will take care of that free also in account settings.

Run the update client for NOIP and make sure everything is working which it now should.

You have a very basic website running. To run php, perl, mysql and other things you will need other packages but once again its a broad topic so i just offered a free way to server/host your own website FREE.

But that all said i would highly recommend spending a little time learning Linux and you will find that a far more stable server. Mandriva is a great Server and very configureable for Windows users.(LINK 3)

To make the site itsself always name first/landing page index.html and you can simply use notepad to do this. But i reccomend upgrading to something like Dreamweaver as soon as possible.

Do you really intend to pass an expensive and complicated process?! You should know your site would be unavailable whenever your PC is turned off, and you're leaving yourself open to attacks. So I recommend get a reliable company to do that in return for a few dollars.
