Can I still go out at night in Spain even though I'll be staying with a host family?

I am studying in spain for three weeks to brush up on my spanish and i decided to stay with a host family to help my practice and learn the culture. I'm excited to meet them and I'm bringing a gift and planning on being very polite, but I want to be able to go out at night with my new friends that I make on my program. I heard Spanish families are stricter with female guests and that they may tell me i can't stay out past a certain time. I'm out of college and I really want to experience the nightlife while i'm there without being rude. Please help!

If you want to enjoy the night life, spend some time staying at a hotel. I would think it's rude to stay out very late if I were guest in someone's home. Unless of course, they like to stay out late and party with you.

Actually, you can go out some. Most Spanish host families host for the money, not the relationship. Mine gave me a key, and didn't mind, as long as I came home quietly. Still, try to be home for at least half the dinners in any given week. And let them know if you will miss a meal. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20070211225229AAhC1BI&kid=J7h0BXfaEGlZblc3qJRd&s=comm&date=2009-01-13+13%3A46%3A33&.crumb=
