Has anyone liked the new book The Host by stephanie meyer?

I'm a die hard fan of the Twilight Series

And i was interested in reading The Host

So I was wondering if anyone has liked it and if they would like

recommending it to me?

I like it but sometimes its hard to get into the book!

It is really diff. from twilight, it is more mature.

But great book though! :)

I started to read it and got about a quarter of the way through before I had to put it down. It is a very, very different sort of book from the Twilight series, and I do think it appeals to readers of different tastes as well. It isn't so much a fantasy novel, with vampires and werewolves (as Twilight is), but rather a science fiction novel that has to do with creatures taking over the bodies of humans, and the humans' resistance to that.

I would say either check it out of your local library, or sit down in a bookstore for an hour or so and read a section of it. If you like it, fantastic, and if you don't, at least you didn't waste the $25!

I'm only 20 pages in....very different, very strange and weird. But, since I am 50 years old and I thought the Twilight series was a little juvenile and quite scary in it's portrayal of women, (weak women totally needing a strong man to identify themselves). I'm actually liking the real sci-fi edge to this one. I know there is a love interest later on, and I am HOPING that Ms. Meyer makes this heroine stronger and more of her own person. The "Twilight" series kind of freaked me out the way Bella and Edward interacted......I sincerely hope the young ladies that read ( and obsessed) about that relationship do not think that is the way it should be. She is a good writer, but for the teen audience she needs to be a little more NOW and a little less 1800's in her descriptions of male/female relationships.

Do not read it . I returned to Borders. It was that bad. Without giving anything away, Meyer used similar writing themes that she used previously in her Twilight Series. Because I was familiar with them, Host turned out just to be a lesser version and was boring. I could not get into it, no matter how much I wanted to.

Well, personally I thought it was a bit of a Yeerks take over the world, except they are peaceful (Animorphs) meets Lake at the End of the World (which is great).

I think this book is a little more emotionally distant, but I prefer it to Twilight.

My girlfriend says that it's a great book, I bought a copy for her and myself, I will start reading it once i finish up the Twilight series.

One of my friends is reading it right now, and is dissapointed in it. I plan on reading it anyway because i loved her other books.
