in the summer you get the english schools for the spanish italians and the french there called sts the germans use jurgan mathews the money is crap it only pays about £50 a week per student.
If you've heard it through school, then I should contact the school. My school has news like that in the schools' newsletter and how to become a host family and find out who you've got and where from. My best friend has done this for a year with a girl from Japan, who went into the sixth form for a year at our school. She really enjoyed it and because she was learning Japanese at the time, I think it also helped her with her learning. Personally, I've never done anything like that, but my cousin was intending to come over and study in a school nearby or in my school and we would be the host family, but she decided that she wanted to go to France instead.
The best thing to do is contact the agencies that do placements, such as Youth for Understanding. They are almost *always* looking for host families. Do a web search for student exchange organization, then go to their websites to find out the guidelines and how to contact them in your area.
I know you can do it through Rotary or speak to some local Secondary schools, they should know.
