Almost all webhosting companies allow you to pay monthyl, but it will cost you a few more dollars.
Startlogic has a monthly plan that will run you $7 a month.
I pay Yahoo/Geocities $8.95 per month. The set-up fee was $13.00 or something like that - but this was years ago.
