The Host was intended for more adult audiences. I read it and like all of Stephenie's books, this was amazing! I really liked it. While you are waiting for Breaking Dawn... I would totally suggest The Host! It is about an invasion on Earth... These beings take over the human bodies... I love it! And, of course there is a love triangle that is very riveting! It takes a bit to get in to it, but after a little while, it is so good! I really liked it, but I will admit, I am totally partial to the twilight series, so it took me a while to get into the host story!
Her publishers made The Host an adult fiction book, which apparently made her rather upset because she doesn't like to put her books into categories like that and would prefer anyone interested in the books to read it.
Host is a bit more detailed than Twilight and takes a bit more time to read, it also contains some more adultish content, but I've heard lots of people say that they actually prefered The Host over Twilight (I myself am kind of divided on that point). If you're not sure whether you would like it maybe go to the store and read the first little bit or maybe borrow it from the library, but I really think you would enjoy the book.
The Host is wonderfully written and is meant for young adults to adults, but it's more complex than Twilight. It isn't a simple love story, and I have to admit I had to reread the first two chapters atleast twice, read through the whole book, then reread the first few chapters again just to clarify my understanding. I have since read the whole book four times, and get more meaning out of it each time! It truly is an amazing book, but a little confusing to start :P
I just started reading it and its hard to say, its not really like the twilight series, its different. I would think its more of a young adult type book, even though some of the characters is young they seem so much older and I am not sure it will have that same affect on teens as twilight does. But I am only 1/4 of the way into it so it might throw me a surprise and I might find its was a great story.
I haven't read The Host but I've heard that it is meant for adults but that doesn't mean teens can't read it. Apparently it is good for all ages. And I disagree with Kirsty when she said that Twilight was a "simple love story". Edward and Bella faced so many complications. it wasn't like they coulod just be together like normal "beings". They almost got seperated forever. How can you really call that a "simple love story".
It's supposed to be for adults...although there are some pretty advanced teens that understand it's complexity.
...but I would say it catches the eyes of teens rather than adults.
If you liked the twilight series, it should be just about the same category...so yes, I think you would like it.
it's not classified as a young adult book, but it's for young adults to read too. it may be harder for you to understand, but it will still be a good read.
hope i could help!!
no the host is adult but my friend said the only adult thing about it was biger words also that is wasnt as grabby at first
answer mine- its the one that says Twilight or Harry Potter?
It labeled for adults but really its for teens. If you like twilight you will either love it or hate it.
